Kids in the Kitchen - Fairy Bread

Soft, fluffy white bread smeared with margarine and topped with a kaleidoscope of 100’s and 1000’s – Fairy Bread is a common adornment on any kids’ party table. It has been around for generations and apparently originated from England where they would sprinkle sugar over their buttered bread.

A birthday party just doesn’t seem complete without a piled high plateful of fairy bread yet these days, there seems to be more parents opting for the ‘take-out’ birthday party. So, why not indulge yourself and the children now? Fairy bread is so quick and easy to make (not to mention cheap) and is extremely popular amongst children of all ages. You don’t need to wait till a party to whip up some fairy bread though, head to the kitchen and with your kids’ help, indulge in some buttery, crunchy, sweet bread!
Kids will love helping you make this bread BUT be warned – 100’s and 1000’s on the floor and bare feet is not a pleasant feeling nor is it fun to clean up!
